Dear Parents, Guardians, and Students:

Storm Lake High School is now requiring the completion of the ALEKS (Assessment and Learning in Knowledge Spaces) placement exam for all students. 

 

The ALEKS assessment is a Placement Assessment that consists of up to 30 questions and generally takes 60-90 minutes to complete.  Completion of the exam unlocks online modules that your math teacher may have you work through to support you in your learning.

 

Students have the ability to take to the exam on their own but we are also providing an opportunity for any students that have not yet completed the exam to take it in person at the High School. 

If students prefer to take it on their own prior to October 26, 2020 the directions are listed below. 
How to sign up:
  1. Go to https://www.aleks.com/ and click on Sign Up Now!
  2. When asked for the Course Code, find your course code and type it in:
Juniors D6DXU-4RRML Class of 2022, Fall 2020/Spring 2021
Seniors WCVUE-UVGEH Class of 2021, Fall 2020/Spring 2021
  1. Click "Continue"
  2. Select "I have never used ALEKS before" and click continue.  (Do NOT select "I have used ALEKS before")
  3. Fill out the Student Registration Student Information.  (Be sure that your email is correct so that your scores will be matched to your records)
  4. Check the box to agree to the ALEKS Use Agreement and click continue.
  5. You will see a confirmation screen that says Registration Complete
If students would prefer to take it in person the schedule is as follows:
Students with morning face to face classes
 
Report to the high school on October 26, 2020 at 9:00 AM.  Students will be dismissed at the completion of the exam.
Students with afternoon face to face classes
 
Report to the high school on October 26, 2020 at 1:00 PM.  Students will be dismissed at the completion of the exam.
 
How to take the exam:

You will need paper and a pencil.  No Calculators. If a calculator is needed, the computer program will provide one.

  1.  On your ALEKS student homepage, click Get Started for your Placement Assessment  (You will see a few tips for taking your test: make sure you are alert and ready to test, have the supplies you need and are in a comfortable environment where you will not be distracted and can do your best)  

  2. Click Get Started (You could have up to 30 questions but you may have less depending on your answers)

  3. Your results will show on the screen as soon as you are finished.
